Plan your work. Tasks on your Milestone Chart indicate the work to be done. The inverted open triangles indicate when the work is to be started and when it is expected to be completed. The initials and numbers indicate who is to complete each task, and any physical resources they need that must be scheduled. This is your work plan. Work your plan. Now that you know what is to be done, when it is to be done, how long it is expected to take, and who is to do it, the next thing is to do is to “work your plan.” To work your plan, you should first post your plan in a prominent place where it will be regularly seen. Second, each designated person should start their assigned task on the date shown and as they do so, they should “blacken-in” the open inverted triangle to show that the task is in process. Third, when the given task has been completed, the inverted triangle associated with the completion date should also be “blackened-in”. If the task is actually started after the scheduled date, or ended sooner or after its scheduled date, another inverted triangle should be placed on the time line and “blackened-in” signifying that task is started or completed, thus you could have two, three or even four inverted triangles on a given time line.
